Birthday Bash – Giveaway (8) Stack Blocks

Congrats to winner/comment #12, Cupcake Mama!

A BIG thank you goes out to Stack Blocks for sponsoring this giveaway as part of the Birthday Bash event…

I’d been looking for stacking blocks for Baby Girl for a long time that were a little more than just your basic set of blocks.  I wanted something more personalized.  In the “old days” stacking blocks were made from wood but now most often you can only find either plastic or soft blocks.  Unlike most other stacking blocks on the market, Stack Blocks offers wood blocks in several designs, all handmade.  It was a toss up between the farm animal or ladybug themes but I chose the ladybug theme because Hubs loves ladybugs.

Before the blocks arrived in the mail for review I was concerned they might be too large for Baby Girls small hands but they were the perfect size.  My mother-in-law has a set of the “old days” blocks and most of the blocks were too small for Baby Girl to play with because she could get the entire block into her mouth.  Star Blocks are larger than her hand, small enough that she can grasp onto the block with one hand for each block. Baby Girl is just learning how to stack blocks so these adorable ladybug and dragon fly stacking blocks arrived at the perfect time.  One of her favorite things to do with these blocks is to take two, one in each hand, and bash them together.  When we stack the blocks to show her how, she takes the block she is already holding and uses it to knock the stacked blocks down, giggling every time.  It’s very cute to watch.  Within the last two days she has learned to stack the blocks all by herself 3 blocks high.
Stack Blocks are the perfect tool to use in Baby Girls Tot School that I plan on starting soon, now that she has turned 1 year; they are excellent for hand eye coordination.  The other wonderful play addition to these blocks is that you can use these blocks not only for stacking but as a puzzle.  Each block is a puzzle piece the other sides of the block; when all pieces are put together correctly they make a larger 9 piece ladybug picture.  If you are looking for a different theme, there are several to choose from, many which are not only excellent toys for little ones but the perfect touch for home decor.
