2012 Ford F-150 FX4 SuperCrew Turbo Charged and #Ford Tough
Recently I have had the pleasure of reviewing a few of Ford Canada‘s 2012 vehicle line-up with each offering their own unique qualities, equally as sought after depending on the drivers wants and needs in a vehicle. Having a large family and living on an acreage the 2012 Ford F-150 FX4 SuperCrew truck, a vision in blue, fit our family like a glove. I admit I’m a truck kind of gal; the Ford F-150 FX had my heart racing at first sight. This truck was meant for city roads, country roads or no roads; the ride is never long enough for me. With many of the added features Ford is known for, such as the MyFord Touch System, and additional features only the new Ford engines offer, EcoBoost V6 engine, the 2012 Ford F-150 FX4 SuperCrew has a lot to offer.
The interior of the vehicle was complete with leather, a preferable option when you have kids, heated and air conditioned memory seating for comfort at all times of the year. A six-speed automatic transmission with selectable Tow/Haul Mode, best in class trailer towing and optional trailer breaking controller make this the ultimate towing truck. Where our personal truck requires obvious effort, hauling our water trailer with the 2012 F-150 FX4 SuperCrew was effortless.
Ahhhhh, just look at the legroom! This feature of the 2012 Ford F-150 FX4 SuperCrew was one of my favourites; with most vehicles there never seems to be enough room when you have kids. The kids have no excuse for touching each other any more. For those without kids, or times without, the back seat folds up to provide ample room for a grocery/shopping haul, tools or pets.
The most impressive feature about this truck is the the new 3.5L EcoBoost™ V6 engine. Essentially the EcoBoost™ V6 turbo engine offers you all the power you need when you need it with the best fuel efficiency you can get in a truck. For people who spend a lot of time on the road for work with the need for towing power, the EcoBoost engine saves them money on gas and is better for the environment too. We thought the EcoBoost would limit the real power and torque of the engine but upon testing out the turbo charger, we immediately realized that there was absolutely no loss of power and packed a punch. I think this is what sold Hubs on this truck, going from a “like to have” to a “must have at any cost” as expected. I can’t argue with his reasoning, the obvious power of this engine made me a little giddy too.
The exterior of the vehicle offers additional features with hydrolic side steps and step and assist handle in the tailgate to make accessing the truck box easy for anyone. One of the worst things I find for me driving a large truck is the difficulty of seeing around the vehicle; back up camera and large mirrors, mirrors that conveniently fold in by the push of a button inside the cab, made me feel confident. The truck stowable bed extender was a favourite feature of Hubs; with all the DIY projects we have on the go, the bed extender made it easier to haul longer loads securely and when we were finished it was easily stowed out of sight.
As with any truck, we expected to spend more on gas driving this truck but the fuel economy was noticeably better than any other truck we have driven, including our own rear wheel drive truck. Living on a farm and driving around a large family it makes sense for us to own a truck; we use it daily for various projects. Purchasing a truck has a higher price tag for those that don’t really need it but whether you are a soccer mom or a rancher, this truck makes you feel confident you will get anywhere you want to go safely and with enough room for any situation. “Built Ford Tough®” stands up to it’s name with this truck.

That truck looks so nice. Sounds like you really enjoyed yourself
Oh it was very nice and yes, I had a blast. I didn’t want to take it back when the time came.
