Pirates and Princesses Walk the Plank #DisneyJuniorMom

Summer is upon us and we’re busy planning time “unplugged” from the world but we don’t go far without Disney in tow. What do pirates and princesses have in common? Baby Girl of course. Baby Girl loves pirates and princesses, usually together in some sort of arrangement. In fact, just last night she was using an empty paper towel role as a scope instructing me to walk the plank.

Every pirate needs a treasure box. I’ve learned the best treasure, from a 3 y/o’s point of view, is chocolate gold coins. Duh! Grab this cute treasure box printable over at Spoonful.com; I’m sure your little pirate will be carting it around everywhere like mine is.

Most of the summer so far has been cooler than normal but this last couple weeks we’ve had hotter than normal temperatures. After the winter we had and even in the 38 degree celcius humid heat, I am not complaining! Okay, I slightly complained….once. On a hot day princesses must be able to cool down stylishly; we’ll be packing this adorable lace fan for Baby Girl’s minions (AKA sisters) to fan her.

This month Disney Junior will be playing some of your favourite shows and Saturday night movies. Through July and August, tune in to Disney Junior for episodes of Jake and the Never Land Pirates followed by Sofia the Firstweekdays starting at 6:30pm ET. Every Monday, a new episode will run, make sure you set your PVR’s when you’re out enjoying the summer evenings.

Favourite Pirate and Princess Games

Dresss every day as if it was a Royal day with this Sofia the First game on Disney Junior.

What’s a pirate without Hook? Your little won will love the Ready, Set, Hook! Jake and the Neverland Pirates game on Disney Junior on a rainy day inside.

Saturday Family Movie Night

Grab those movie snacks and snuggle up on the couch for some of your favourite Disney movies playing every Saturday night, commercial-free, throughout the summer.

Beginning with It’s A Bug’s Life tomorrow, July 13th at 6 pm ET will kick off Disney Junior’s Saturday movie night. Here are a couple other’s your family might enjoy:

  • Saturday, July 20 at 6pm: It’s Tinker Bell
  • Saturday, July 27 at 6pm: It’s the premiere of the brand new Winnie the Pooh movie!
What are your plans this summer? Do you have a movie night ritual?
