Sweet Chili Meatballs Holiday Appetizer – History

There is a family history with these meatballs that spans over many years and many stories. It starts with my husband, Cory, as a young hockey billet spent living with his aunt who often made these to give the comfort feeling of home.

As he grew older he reminisces of a time he brought these to a friends holiday party and accidentally dropped the whole dish on the tile floor, shattering and red sauce everywhere. Don’t do that; that is a bad scene.

When Cory and I got together years later, this was the first appetizer he made me and I knew then that he and I were perfect for each other. He had me at meatballs. Okay, maybe there were a few other things but meatballs was a big one. We’ve been making them ever since together on the holidays.

This Sweet Chili Meatballs Appetizer recipe makes 50 meatballs; I separated the last 8 into a smaller dish but you could just stack the last few on top of the rest to all fit in one baking dish before you pour the sauce over the top.

If you make this to take with you to a holiday party, you can reheat them at 350 covered with foil for about 10 mins. These are best served warm.

Sweet Chili Meatballs Holiday Appetizer – Flavour

Don’t let the “chili” fool you; these aren’t spicy. They have a sweet but tangy flavour with a meatball that screams you can’t just have one. Sprinkle fresh parsley over the top for an added touch of greenery and serve with a spoon and napkins for the messy ones. Cough.

From little ones to adults, everyone loves these delicious meatballs and I have a feeling these Sweet Chili Meatballs will easily make it’s way into your heart and onto your holiday appetizer menu for years to come.
