Recently we had friends over for an evening of great conversation, laughs and great food and drinks. We love to entertain and when we do it usually involves an array appetizers. These Asian Steak Skewers are the perfect appetizers on the menu; they are amazingly tender, delicious and never a morsel left.

Asian Steak Skewers – Tender and Flavourful

It starts with a great cut of beef; top sirloin is the way to go for these bites of beef marinated in sauce overnight. The salt of the soy sauce, and sweetness of the honey cooked to perfection brings a flavourful burst of melt-in-your mouth juicy deliciousness sure to satisfy your palette and leave you wanting more.

These skewers can be cooked in the oven or grilled which makes them a favourite appetizer for any time of year. They are easy to make; in only a few minutes you can have your steak marinating for assembly and ready to go for any gathering the next day.

*These can be made ahead, marinated overnight then stored in an airtight freezer container for freezing up to 4 months. When you are ready to cook, thaw and cook as directed.

Asian Steak Skewers

Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 8 minutes
Total Time 18 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs of top sirloin steak
  • 1 medium white onion
  • 2/3 cup soy sauce
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 cup sesame oil
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
  • Sliced green onion for garnish

Instructions

Cut steak into 1" cubes and onion into large chunks, set aside.

In a medium bowl stir together soy, garlic, ginger, vegetable oil, sesame oil and honey. Add steak an onions and marinate covered overnight.

Soak skewer for an hour prior to assembly. Assemble skewers by inserting though steak and onions staggered, approximately 5 steak cubes per skewer. Makes around 16 skewers.

Place on a a baking pan,and broil for 4 minutes, flip and broil for another 4 minutes. Serve hot with finely sliced green onion for garnish.
