Luxury Family Vacations Moon Palace Resort Mexico
It’s been six years since Hubs and I walked down the aisle. Either we never had the chance to take a honeymoon or we just preferred to take the our blended family along. Whatever the reason, it was more than time to spend a little alone time together with a luxury couples vacation. We chose a slice of heaven at the all-inclusive Moon Palace Golf and Spa Resort in the beautiful Cancun, Mexico.
After a quick ride from the airport we arrived at the front doors of the resort lobby where we our baggage was handled quickly and we were offered clean wet towelettes to wash our hands and faces after a long days travel. We were eager to get checked in, walking into this beautifully grand lobby. I couldn’t help but take a few pictures, noting to Hubs that I wouldn’t mind one of the beautiful chandeliers for our home.
The Moon Palace Golf and Spa Resort has 4 options to choose from, the Sunrise, the Moon Grand, the Golf Villas and Nizuc. Set away from the busier areas, the Moon Grand was definitely more relaxed with close proximity to the 27-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course and for the golf lovers out there, the Golf Villas are located directly on the golf course.
We wanted something a little more quiet so initially we had booked a standard room online but when we arrived we agreed that we wanted something a little closer to the activities and decided to upgrade to a Superior Oceanview room at the Nizuc.
Whichever section you book, you are free to use the entire resort at your leizure with shuttles available between sections. We had taken the shuttles a few times but realized it wasn’t that long of a walk directly along the sidewalk at oceanfront. We could easily walk to the more upbeat Sunrise where the nightclub, family suites, kids club and waterpark could be enjoyed. Had we had the kids, we likely would have chosen the Sunset.
Directly after we checked in we were offered drinks and dainties or ice cream from the lobby bar and cafe before we were walked through the $1500 resort credit applied to our room stay. We had the option to use the credits towards several activities at the resort, any unused credits would be applied to a future stay. The resort credits are completely optional and with several options to choose from we immediately decided to book a couples massage at the onsite spa for some much needed pampering.
The beauty didn’t stop at the lobby. Every hallway we turned down was rich in marble, lighting and extra updated modern features. This specific hallway had one of our favourite Pubs, The Pub, an English decorated pub where a live band played rock music the first night we arrived.
Once we arrived at our room we were glad we had upgraded to the superior, the ocean view was breathtaking and the room was equally as nice. Decked out in marble the room offered mini bar, ocean view balcony, Jacuzzi tub for two which we happily enjoyed relaxing in at nights end and a bed that we could fall asleep uninterrupted by little children. Bliss.
We had the pleasure one morning of coming upon the maintenance men who cleared the trees of coconuts. As we were snapping a few pictures, we were offered a fresh coconut to sip on. Fresh coconut milk? I couldn’t pass that up.
The cafe, Brazilian, Mexican restaurants and buffet can be found in the Nizuc but no matter where you end up at the resort you can find several delicious options to intrigue your palette. One evening we experienced a flaming banana a table side, it was definitely something to see but the Mayan Coffee was even more impressive.
Close to our room we had a short walk to the pool with the swim up bar where we spent many an afternoon and almost directly across there was more of a family pool with a paddling pool and waterslide for the kids. Further down the resort at the Sunset, there was a pirate water park for the kids and kids club but really anywhere you spent at the resort you could easily find more secluded couples time or more family oriented activities.
Along with Scuba Diving, yoga, golf and spa treatments, the Flow Rider was a bit of excitement to be found. I wasn’t quite brave enough to see how limber I was but Hubs was. In fact he spent quite a bit of time trying to hone in his surfing skills which was admittedly a bit of a laugh for me. I should take some of his advice, “Don’t be afraid to fall. Be curious.” even when the odds are good for a wipeout. As I watched I couldn’t help but think how much my teens would love trying their hand at this activity.
It just so happened we were at the Moon Palace Golf and Spa Resort while there was a turtle release. We had the opportunity to each take a newly hatched baby turtle and release it in the sand at waters edge where it took the first leap into the ocean. This leap is an important part in a turtles life; it allows them to be able to recognize the beach where they can return years later to lay future turtles.
The resort has too many options and activities to list, all of which are equally worthy of spending time out; there are enough activities you will always have something to do. One of the days we spent at the spa getting a couples massage. The spa itself was beautiful and the atmosphere was set to make guests most comfortable. We enjoyed the experience so much we planned to book another but time escaped us.
Deciding to leave the kids at home and make this trip a couples vacation was a bit of a tough decision ut we enjoyed our time so much that I we plan on taking more alone time in addition to our family travel plans. If you’re considering a resort where pampering and excitement are on your list, with couples, singles or families in mind, Moon Palace Golf and Spa Resort should be on your list to visit.

This Moon Papalce Resort looks gorgeous. Would it good to go as mother and daughter?
Yes, absolutely; this resort has so much to do. Morning yoga, scuba diving, entertainment, FloRider, spa or just relax in the swim up pool. I have two teens and I know my daughters would have a time to remember.
