Family Traditions and a Month of Disney Junior Holidays

Every year my family celebrates holiday traditions that have become a part of our very existence. Part of the joy of Christmas is being able to share some of my family traditions that have carried over through generations with my own kids. From the time my older kids were small to now with the two smaller kids, new traditions have formed and some old traditions have fallen away but the most important part of any tradition is making family memories. This month Disney Junior Canada shares winter-themed episodes and holiday specials to share in your traditions. Snuggle up with your little ones and a cup of hot cocoa to tune into some of Disney Junior’s festive episodes during the month of December.

Christmas Family Traditions

Despite the fact our older kids spend half their time at their dads, we make a point to wait so we can decorate the Christmas tree together every year among the sounds of Christmas music. To be honest, it’s harder to share the tree decorating with the kids than if I were to do it alone but making memories together is important and I cherish the little eyes glimmering with the sparkle of last years tree ornament. When I was small we had the same tradition; although mom always rearranged the tree after we went to bed, it’s a tradition I keep alive in my own family. This year we decided to succumb to the Elf on the Shelf phenomena, a new tradition for our little ones that we didn’t have with our older ones growing up.

Sophia the First the Little Mermaid

Growing up each of the kids has had their favourite Disney character to carry them through many special moments. For Baby Girl a special mermaid has held her hand through moments of happiness, illness or just simple every day things, especially bath time. Does your little one have a favourite character?

On Sunday December 8th at 5pm ET Sofia the First will appear in a special presentation, with an appearance by Princess Ariel in The Floating Palace.  Ariel swims by to help Sofia on an underwater adventure to save her new mermaid friend, Oona.  To celebrate Ariel’s appearance, Disney Junior will also be airing the movie The Little Mermaid 2 on Friday January 3rd at 10am ET so make sure you grab your little tadpoles, a bowl of popcorn and snuggle in to watch.
