Back to School Reading with @DKCanada G1VEAWAY

I’ve read to my kids since they were in utero; naturally they love books and are avid readers.  My son, Hollywood, always prefers a real book compared to a digital version; he says he likes to smell and the feel of the paper between his fingers.  I can relate to that; although I sometimes find it easier to take along my ereader, I still prefer having an actual book in my hands.

Recently I was given the opportunity to review the following books for my children.  I personally chose these books based on my children’s individual interests; from babies to adults, DK Canada has a variety of books for every personality and interest.

I chose the JOHN DEERE ALL AROUND THE FARM PICTURE WORD BOOK for my youngest, Baby Girl, for obvious reasons, we live on a farm.  Although she already knows a lot about farms for a 2 year old, this book offers her facts and pictures from your first planting of seeds to food on your table.

DK brings John Deere’s reputation for quality to a book series with eye-popping photos of its farm machines. Young readers learn about tractors and farming as well as the world around them with incredible photographs, simple text, and a little help from Johnny Tractor.

Packed with images and information, this brand-new tour of farm machines, farm animals, and farm life will transport children right to the field and the barn as they expand their vocabulary and understanding of where their food comes from.

>> Includes more than 300 full-color photographs
>> Covers crops, harvesting, dairy, cattle, and farms around the world
>> Features timelines and sidebars with additional information

My daughter, Miss Priss, is really into finding out who people were, especially people who made historic marks before her time.  The 100 PEOPLE WHO MADE HISTORY was a perfect choice for her to learn quick tidbits of historic information and how these people came to make history.

Where would we be without inventors, philosophers, economists, politicians, explorers, and other “ideas” people? Some of our historical heroes were lone geniuses but many were influenced by other great thinkers and ideas.

Full of true-life stories and famous celebrities, 100 People Who Made History contains all the people you’d expect to find, and plenty that you wouldn’t! Inventors and explorers rub shoulders with political leaders, sports stars, and entertainers from all over the world. From Aristotle to Mark Zuckerberg, to Marie Curie to Pele, all areas of culture, history, industry, sports, entertainment, and more are covered. Perfect for book reports, school projects, or anytime reading to satisfy and educate curious minds.

Squeakers has always been a creative person; she loves to doodle, colour, draw and learn about art.  DOODLEPEDIA has a wonderful world of discovery for her to harness some of her many artistic interests and discover exciting facts; drawing to learn has never been more fun.

A fact-packed drawing and coloring book that will change the way you look at learning!

Sharpen your pencils as well as your thinking with this interactive coloring doodle book. Fun, informative, and entirely unique, this encyclopedia gets kids thinking and learning by placing them right in the action. Readers are tasked with completing drawings, creating illustrations, coloring images, adding finishing touches, and designing their own scenes-learning about science, space, nature, people, technology, popular culture, and more along the way!

Reading has never been so hands-on.
