Express Your Barbie Style and WIN
As far back as I can remember I have fond memories of pretend play. I had suitcases filled with Barbie and friends, not to mention the numerous outfits and accessories, that my sister and I had collected over the years. I played with them for hours on end, with or without friends it didn’t matter, I could imagine numerous scenarios only to pack them up at the end of the day to begin all over again the next day with a completely new play scenario. I loved everything about Barbie, the colours, the hair, the accessories but the one thing I loved most was the fashion and endless interchangeable outfits.
As my own daughters grew, sharing my stories of Barbie and watching them grow with Barbie over the years has created many cherished memories over the years. My eldest girls tell me they are “too old” for Barbie play now but I’m not completely sold on that. Now that my youngest daughter Baby Girl is turning 4, I have seen the sparkle in the older girls eyes when all their fondest memories of Barbie come flooding back. Barbie once again becomes a way for my children to bond with imaginative play. I have to giggle while watching them; the big girls try to show Baby Girl how to play with Barbie but she’ll have none of it. Before long Baby Girl is running the Barbie show and the big sisters are happily playing to her tune.
Imagining with Barbie My Dreams
Gone are the days where in hand play is all children have access to; I love that Barbie uses interactive play but I want to ensure my kids will be safe online. Barbie My Dreams is a kid-friendly site easily monitored by parents where they can create their own style, like other creations and keep up on promotions, contests and everything Barbie. Each character has a unique board that kids can have fun looking through and saving, if they like and I can feel safe knowing they are browsing the site.
My girls may say they are too old for Barbie’s but I have seen them time and time again on the computer playing every dress-up game they can get their hands on; Barbie allows my preteens to continue the play with Barbie my Dreams. It’s free and easy; all you have to do is create an account using a parents email and your kids will be expressing their style in seconds. I love to peek in on what the girls creations; maybe it’s the nostalgia, maybe I’m just a big kid at heart but I love it.
